Thangal Kunju Musaliar College of Engineering

Founded in 1958 in Kollam, Kerala, Thangal Kunju Musaliar College of Engineering (TKMCE) is one of South India’s premier engineering institutions. Known for its strong academic foundation, state-of-the-art facilities, and accomplished alumni, TKMCE continues to shape future engineers with a commitment to excellence and innovation.TKM College of Engineering, the oldest engineering college in private sector in the state of Kerala, was established in 1958 by Janab Thangal Kunju Musaliar, a reformer, philanthropist and businessman under the aegis of the TKM College Trust, in Kollam district of Kerala. The institution has been a torchbearer for social and technological transformation since its inception and has touched the lives of countless individuals from around the nation, both directly and indirectly. Over a period of six decades, the college produced thousands of brilliant engineers, many of whom are stalwarts in their fields across the globe.

Thangal Kunju Musaliar

Thangal Kunju Musaliar (1897–1966) was a visionary entrepreneur and philanthropist from Kollam, whose legacy continues to inspire generations. Tracing his ancestry to the legendary Islamic missionary Malik ibn Deenar, he rose from humble beginnings, ending his formal education early to support his family.

A man of wisdom, resilience, and integrity, he navigated through global crises—including two world wars and India’s independence—upholding truth, justice, and fearless perseverance. His philosophy of simple living and high thinking remains a guiding force, shaping lives through his contributions to education and society.
